Chennai Super Kings is a franchise cricket team which has been a part of the Indian Premier League since 2008. However, after playing for 8 years, CSK was banned from the tournament. The present owner of the Chennai Super Kings cricket team is the Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited. However, the Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited was formed in the year 2014 on December 19th. That is when the new organization acquired the team and are currently the CSK owner in 2022. Along with this, they also acquired the team’s rights from its parent company, India Cement.

The Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited not only fulfils the managerial and administrative roles for the franchise, but also has the rights to the team’s jersey and other merchandise. However, the organization is registered as a non-governmental company. N. Srinivasan, the managing director of the India Cements was the former owner of the franchise since the inaugural of the IPL until 2013.
