1. Mahendra Singh Dhoni
MS Dhoni, adorably called the Thala by CSK fans, is one the biggest superstars of the franchise. As a skipper, he has played the most number of games in the marquee league. In 190 matches, Dhoni’s team won on 116 occasions, lost in 73 games, and 1 match was abandoned. CSK won back-to-back titles in IPL 2010 and 2011. After the betting scandal-hit CSK, the franchise made a comeback after 2 years of hiatus in 2018, where they won the championship. Dhoni and his team went on to lift their 4th IPL trophy in 2021 after defeating rivals KKR in the final. Much more is expected from CSK in 2024.

2. Suresh Raina
Raina is widely regarded as Mr IPL and is a big reason behind CSK’s success in the league. The Chinnathala has served as the deputy of Dhoni over the past seasons of IPL. He led CSK in 5 games, out of which the team won only once. Raina is the leading run-scorer of the franchise, with 4687 runs in 176 matches. However, Raina’s contract was terminated in 2021 after he was not retained by CSK ahead of the mega auctions.
3. Ravindra Jadeja
Jadeja, the well-known fielder, was appointed as the captain of the Chennai Super Kings before the start of IPL 2022. However, due to the team’s poor performance of only two victories out of eight matches, he was replaced by MS Dhoni. Jadeja had the chance to play only two matches under Dhoni’s captaincy before he had to withdraw from the season due to a rib injury. Dhoni is now confirmed as the captain of the team for the 2024 season.
