India is playing the 2nd Test against Sri Lanka in Bengaluru. In the first innings, India scored 252. Shreyas Iyer scored 92 runs off just 98 leading India to the total. Whereas, Sri Lanka was bowled out at only 109 on the 2nd Day. India’s star-pacer Jasprit Bumrah picked 5 wickets, assisting India in wrapping Sri Lanka’s innings. In the 2nd innings, India got a much better start comparatively. Rohit Sharma was hitting well but gave a catch to Angelo Matthews. However, because of Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer India continued to score runs. Rishabh created history as he smashes the fastest Test fifty by any Indian. Pant has is known for his power-hitting abilities and also for hitting lofty one-handed sixes.
The fearless youngster made his debut for India at only 19. After Dhoni, Rishabh has taken India’s wicket-keeping and middle-order smashing duties. He has also taken IPL franchise Delhi Capitals’ captaining duties. Rishabh has played a total of 29 Tests, 24 ODIs, and 43 T20Is scoring 1831, 715, and 683 runs respectively. He is one of the most aggressive and promising Indian batters at the moment.
Rishabh Pant smashes Fastest Test Fifty
By smashing a 50 on just 28 deliveries, Rishabh becomes the Indian with the fastest Test fifty. Moreover, he now is the joint-holder of 2nd fastest fifty by anyone in Test cricket, internationally. He achieved the place next to Ian Botham who scored 50 off 28 against India in 1981. Now, Rishabh is only behind Shahid Afridi’s 26 deliveries 50 from 2005. In addition, he also surpassed Kapil Dev’s 30-years-old record. Kapil Dev had smashed a half-ton in only 30 balls against Pakistan. The list is followed by Shardul Thakur and Virender Sehwag. Pant smashed 7 fours and 2 sixes while scoring his half-century. However, Rishabh couldn’t take his inning much farther. He gave an easy catch to Jayawickrama.

He achieved another feat today. In the first innings, he scored 39 off 26 with a strike rate of 150. Today, he scored 50 off 31 deliveries, with a strike rate higher than 161. By doing so, Rishabh Pant became the first player to score 30+ runs at a strike rate of 150+ in each innings of a Test match. How amazing is this young south-paw!
