The BBL franchise Brisbane Heat has made an announcement ending their 11-year-long association with Chris Lynn. Lynny has been the face of Brisbane Heat, captaining them for 50 matches. However, no deal will be offered to him for the next years. The club had a terrible campaign last year, Lynn had also not performed up to the mark. The leading run-scorer (3005) in the tournament’s history managed to get only 215 runs in 12 matches. As a result, the team finished seventh in 2021. He will now be on the hunt for a new BBL Club. With his prolific six-hitting abilities, Chris Lynn can easily land a deal for the next season.
A foundation player of the Heat was the first to play 100 BBL games. He made 102 appearances in the tournament, representing Brisbane Heat. The foundation player, Lynn was around whom the Brisbane Heat had established their franchise. However, they have opted not to offer the marquee player a deal. Chris Lynn’s contract which was signed in 2017 expired. Ian Healy, head of Queensland’s recruitment and retention committee says “Chris Lynn will be missed by thousands, however, the decision we have made as a club is about building on the legacy that he leaves as a foundation player, captain, and ambassador for the Heat.”
BBL: Brisbane Heat part ways with Chris Lynn
“It’s not a decision that has come easily to the Heat by any means. Chris Lynn and his feats have made an indelible impression on the club, and his efforts over more than a decade can rightly be said to have had an enormously positive effect on cricket. The Heat wish him nothing but the best for the future as he transitions into another phase of his career and thank him wholeheartedly for his commitment to the game in Queensland.”
