Rajasthan Royals is one of the strongest teams in the league currently if one goes by their squad strength. The team that reached the final stage lacked nothing, if not for some toss luck. Moving ahead on their final high, the squad has backed their core strength of players ahead of IPL 2024. The retention list put forth by the Royals isn’t a surprising one given how complete both their batting and bowling strength looks. The team didn’t engage in any trade deals with that window opened till November 15. The management managed to clinch some notable names in the 2022 mega-auction. And it seems like a no-brainer for them to move ahead without those names in the league forward.
The buzz around the retention news within Rajasthan went berserk a while back. One of the wild ones suggested that Rajasthan was trying really hard to trade the left-handed young gun Devdutt Padikkal off. The vague trading deals then turned to become the news of Padikkal being released by the Royals. And the latest was that of Rajasthan Royals letting go of refined spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. However, putting all the buzz as mere rumors, the team announced their retentions that involve both Padikkal and Ashwin standing still in the squad.
Rajasthan Royals, however, have released Daryl Mitchel and Rassie Van der Dussen ahead of the mini-auction. The duo, though in fine form didn’t sit right in the team at a specific position. And hence, Royals decided to add to their purse value through the releases. Moreover, Royals has also parted ways with Nathan Coulter-Nile who left the squad early in the 2022 season because of an injury. Rajasthan Royals will now look forward to filling the remaining 9 slots with 13.20 crores stacked in their auction purse. The mini-auction, in turn, is scheduled for 23rd December this year in Kochi.
