India’s Tour to New Zealand: All-rounder Hardik Pandya will captain the Indian T20 team in the upcoming bilateral tournament against New Zealand. While Shikhar Dhawan will lead the ODI squad. The tour will begin five days after the conclusion of the T20 World Cup in Australia.
Moreover, regular skipper Rohit Sharma, and star batters like Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul have been rested from the entire series. Additionally, a large chunk of senior players will also miss out. Likes of Dinesh Karthik, Mohammad Shami, R Ashwin, and Axar Patel are excluded. The chairman of the selectors, Chetan Sharma, pointed to workload management as the reason.

While young guns Ishan Kishan, Deepak Hooda, Shubman Gill, and Sanju Samson will be back in the national squad. Speedster Umran Malik has also been given a chance to impress at the international level, in the absence of veteran Jasprit Bumrah.
Remarkably, both Hardik Pandya and Shikhar Dhawan have recently proven their mettle as national captains. While Hardik had led India earlier this year, during the T20I tour to Ireland, Shikhar has also captained the ODI side many times.
