On one hand, the cricket world talks about how difficult it is for players to have a healthy personal life given the amount of cricket being played, and on other boards are announcing more bi-laterals. BCCI President Ganguly on Thursday confirmed that India will host Australia and South Africa ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup. Reports suggest that the South Africa series will be played till October 15th. It is noteworthy that India will play its first world cup match on October 23rd versus Pakistan. So it is likely that a second-string team will play South Africa.
India set to host South Africa, Australia ahead of the T20 World Cup
A council meeting was held on Thursday. BCCI President Sourav Ganguly addressed the media after the meeting and said, “We will host SA and Australia for three T20Is each before going for the T20 World Cup. South Africa will come to India after concluding their ongoing England tour (in September). All those venues which didn’t get to stage a game against SA- Ranchi, Nagpur, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Indore, Mohali- will host T20Is against SA and Australia.”
Previously, the venues for the matches were changed therefore he emphasized that these venues will get a chance to host matches now. After this announcement, India will now play West Indies, Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Australia as they prepare for the T20 WC 2022.
India tour of West Indies 2022
India’s tour of the West Indies will begin on July 22nd including 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is. Shikhar Dhawan will be leading the Indian side as Rohit Sharma is rested from the ODIs. Other all-format regulars are rested too.
