The Bengal Cricket Association and Wriddhiman Saha were involved in a public fallout earlier this year. He had now parted ways with the Bengal team. Moreover, it is reported that Wriddhiman Saha will now join the Tripura cricket team as a player-cum-mentor. The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has now given Saha a Non-Objection Certificate (NOC) which now allows him to join any other team.
Earlier this year Debabrata Das, joint secretary, CAB had publicly accused Saha of skipping domestic matches. Later, he sought an apology but he didn’t get one. Even the Indian team had sidelined Saha around the time. However, he had a successful season with Gujarat Titans, which went on to win IPL 2022.
Reports: Wriddhiman Saha to join Tripura Cricket team
“Mr. Wriddhiman Saha came to CAB and in an application to President Avishek Dalmiya sought the NOC from the association. CAB gave concurrence to the request of Mr. Saha and provided the NOC to him for playing for another state. CAB also wished him the very best for his future endeavors.”
Official Press Release
Kishore Das, joint secretary of Tripura Cricket Association said that Saha is expected to sign a deal by July 15. He says, “We have had talks with Saha and he has agreed to play for the state. He will also act as a mentor for the senior team to motivate the players. Players would be immensely benefited if Saha joins the team, considering his vast experience in international cricket and the domestic circuit. It is not yet finalized whether he will be made the captain of the team. This will be decided later.”
Wriddhiman has played 40 Tests for India scoring 1353 runs. The wicket-keeper batter also has 92 stumping and 12 catches to his credit.
