Soon after the IPL ends, India has a lot of cricket to play at home, as well as overseas. Due to a clash in the schedules, it is likely that 2 different teams are picked. However, reports suggest that there will also be a change in the coaching staff. Rahul Dravid, the newly-appointed Team India head coach will be accompanying the team to England. So, it will be impossible for him to oversee the Indian squad for the SA T20I series. So, VVS Laxman is set to take up the responsibility to coach team India for the South-Africa as well as Ireland T20Is.
Last year, Rahul Dravid was appointed as the coach of the team that was playing Sri Lanka. Whereas, Ravi Shastri’s team was playing England simultaneously. VVS Laxman has been recently appointed as the NCA Chairman. In addition, the senior, all-format players of India including Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah, and KL Rahul will be rested from the SA series. They will be traveling to England around June 15th. Earlier, it was reported that Shikhar Dhawan is likely to lead the team in Rohit’s absence. It’ll be exciting to see a young squad playing against South Africa.
