IPL 2022 begins on March 26. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the tournament schedule on Sunday (March 6th). The 10 participating teams have been divided into two groups of five like the 2011 edition. Each team will be playing the other four teams in its respective group twice. And four teams of the other group once and rest teams once. In all, one team will be playing 14 matches in the tournament. The top four teams in the points table make it to the playoffs. All the matches will be played in only four venues in Maharashtra – three in Mumbai and one in Pune. Overall, 74 matches will be played in the tournament held between March 26 and May 29. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are the defending champions while Lucknow SuperGiants (LSG) and Gujarat Titans (GT) are the new franchises.
KKR Performance In The IPL 2021
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), who made a shocking comeback in the second leg of the 2021 edition held in the UAE. They will play their first match of the 2022 edition against CSK hoping to turn around the result of the final of last year. The Knight Riders will be playing under the new skipper Shreyas Iyer and aim to take the crown a third time. And get over the nightmare of the last-hurdle debacle of 2021. KKR will kick off their IPL 2022 campaign against Chennai Super Kings at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, on March 26.
In 2022, KKR retained Andre Russell (Rs 12 cr), Varun Chakravarthy (Rs 8 cr), Venkatesh Iyer (Rs 8 cr) and Sunil Narine (Rs 6 crore). Welcoming its new skipper Shreyas Iyer (12.25cr) and bidding back Pat Cummins (Rs 7.25 cr), Nitish Rana ( 8 cr), Shivam Mavi (7.25 cr) & Sheldon Jackson (60 lakh). The team hopes to add one more star to its jersey. And echo its war cry of Korbo Lorbo Jeetbo more deafeningly.
