Tokyo Paralympics 2020: India’s star paddler Sonalben Patel loses to World No. 4 and Rio 2016 silver medalist Li Qian

India started their campaign on August 25, with Sonalben Patel and Bhavinaben Patel both going against the top Paralympics contenders.

Sonalben VS Li Qian

Sonalben Patel won the first round 11-9 and was looking impressive. But the tables turned around by World No.4 and Rio 2016 silver medalist Li Qian’s fantastic comeback. Li Qian showed terrific composure to win the second round with an 11-3, leveling up the scoreboard, and then she went on to win the decider by 11-4, winning the match. Later the day, Korea’s Lee Mi Gyu has gone on to defeat Qian Li of China. Now, both Lee Mi and Qian Li have one win each. Sonalben Patel faces Lee tomorrow, and she must win the match to complicate the equation.
