Brock Lesnar and Stone Cold Steve Austin WrestleMania match scrapped

Brock Lesnar made a shocking return to the WWE on RAW XXX 30th Anniversary Show. With WrestleMania 39 just around the corner, what does WrestleMania have in store for the Beast Incarnate?

The Almighty and The Beast’s Fates Are Intertwined

Brock Lesnar returned to the WWE to cost Bobby Lashley a victory over the United States Champion Austin Theory. Lesnar versus Lashley was always a dream match for many fans and the two finally locked horns at Crown Jewel last year. The two men did not waste any time and pulled out finisher moves from their artillery at the very outset. Lesnar picked up a lucky win and barely edged past the volatile Lashley.

It was a déjà vu moment for Lashley on RAW XXX, as it was Brock Lesnar who previously cost him his US Championship. He left Lashley defenseless after a severe beatdown, inviting Seth Rollins to capitalize and bring a halt to Lashley’s reign as the United States Championship. On RAW XXX, it was Lesnar again who cost Lashley the United States Championship.

Going ahead, Bobby Lashley seems to be the opponent for the returning Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania. But that wasn’t always the plan.

Brock Lesnar Was Pitched To Stone Cold Steve Austin

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, the WWE pitched Brock Lesnar to Stone Cold Steve Austin as his WrestleMania opponent. But that plan never came to fruition.

Fightful meanwhile reported that Roman Reigns was also an opponent that was suggested to Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Stone Cold Steve Austin came out of retirement at last year’s WrestleMania. He defeated Kevin Owens and the duo put up a splendid and heavily entertaining display.
