Johnny Gargano has suffered a major setback and is a doubt for the 2024 Royal Rumble.

WWE confirm Gargano’s injury

Johnny Gargano suffered an injury at a WWE live show at the latter end of December. He has not been in action since 30th December, 2022. The WWE has now provided an update on the seriousness of Gargano’s injury.

WWE commentators Corey Graves and Kevin Patrick informed the WWE Universe that Johnny Gargano is suffering from a Grade 2 AC sprain.

An Update From Johnny Gargano Himself

Johnny Gargano himself provided a much-awaited update on his injury status. He stated that he got injured at a WWE house show at Toronto. He went on to state that he is being looked after and working together with WWE medical staff to recover and return to the ring. Gargano exclaimed that all he wants is to be let cleared in time for the Royal Rumble. He made a plea to be let into the Royal Rumble despite his injury.

I injured my shoulder at a live event in Toronto (ironic?), and the medical team is going to protect me from myself for a bit.. but you better believe I'm going to do EVERYTHING I can to get back in that ring so I can be that guy you all know I can be. Just let me in that Rumble!

Johnny Gargano made a jaw-dropping return to the WWE last year, in August. It was his first appearance on WWE television since 2021 when he left the company after declining a new contract.

Gargano was NXT’s first ‘Triple Crown’ champion. He left the company as a 3-time NXT North American Champion, 1-time NXT Tag Team Champion and 1-time NXT Champion.
