Opening for Lucknow Super Giants alongside captain KL Rahul, Mayers didn’t have the best start. The team struggled to make the moves. However, after a scare and a drop by Khaleel Ahmed, It was as if a beast inside prowling. Mayers went crazy on the bowlers as he whacked’em left and right.
Mayers made just 17 runs in his first 17 balls at an STR of 100. Meanwhile, He scored 56 off the next 21 balls at a pretty delicious STR of 266.6.
Kyle finished his innings with 73 runs off 38 balls, which is also the fourth-highest score by a debutant in IPL. The record belongs to Brendon McCullum who scored a blistering 158* in the very first match of IPL. McCullum’s century is a testament to IPL and is heavily talked about even after 15 years.

The fifth on the list is ex-South African captain Graeme Smith who made 71 against Deccan in his Indian Premier League match. The Kyle Mayers record stands out in the list as it is the only one in the Top Five not to be a 2008 record. Moreover, he became the first West Indian player to score 50+ on IPL Debut.
