Novak Djokovic slams his injury critics

Serbian tennis ace Novak Djokovic did not mince his words in the press conferences after defeating Australia’s own, Alex de Minaur in the Fourth Round of the Australian Open.

No Adherence To Doubters

Djokovic has been struggling with injuries over the course of the 2024 Australian Open. He was asked to comment on media murmurs doubting the legitimacy and seriousness of his injuries. The 21-time Grand Slam title winner proceeded to provide a rather raw and unfiltered response to his doubters.

He stated, “I leave the doubting to those people – let them doubt…Only my injuries are questioned. When some other players are injured, then they are the victims, but when it is me, I am faking it. It is very interesting. I don’t feel that I need to prove anything to anyone.”

I have got the MRI, ultrasound and everything else, both from two years ago and now. Whether I will publish that in my documentary or on the social media, depends on how I feel. Maybe I will do I it, maybe I won’t,” Djokovic further added.

I am not really interested at this point what people are thinking and saying. It is fun, it is interesting to see how the narrative surrounding me continues, narrative that is different compared to other players that have been going through similar situation. But I am used to it, and it just gives me extra strength and motivation. So, I thank them for that.”

The seven-time Wimbledon Champion came out triumphant in an easy outing against Alex de Minaur. Djokovic defeated the Australian, the No 22 seed, 6-2, 6-1, 6-2, to storm into the Quarter-finals of the Australian Open.

An injury-laden Djokovic stated that he felt much better on the court than he previously did on Saturday. He is set to take on World No 5, Andrey Rublev tomorrow at the Rod Laver Arena. This will be his 13th Australian Open Quarter-final.

Djokovic has won the Australian Open for a record number of nine times. A tenth piece of Australian Open silverware might just be on the horizons for the Serbian.
