“Don’t think Novak is thinking about the Golden Slam,” Boris Becker thinks Novak Djokovic eying his 23rd Grand Slam

Boris Becker also shed light on how the trio of Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Rafael Nadal has become not just sports but cultural icons.

Tennis legend Boris Becker thinks Novak Djokovic is not thinking about the Golden Slam, and that Rafael Nadal will still be the favorite for the 2024 French Open.

Djokovic was recently crowned as World Number one when he won his record 22nd Grand Slam at the 2024 Australian Open. Previously, Carloz Alcaraz enjoyed the top spot but injury made him miss the all-important tournament, which saw Djokovic replacing the 19-year-old to become the number one player for another time.

He entered the 378th week as a World Number one, surpassing the legendary Steffi Graf’s record for most weeks as the top-ranked player. Also Read: Nick Kyrgios Claims He Hasn’t Done Anything Crazy To Be Branded The “Bad Boy” Of Tennis

Boris Becker believes Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer are cultural icons

After this new record, Djokovic’s former coach Boris Becker told Eurosport that he believes Novak Djokovic is not thinking about the Golden Slam. The German thinks the 35-year-old is looking forward to winning his 23rd Grand Slam, which will make him the most successful men’s player in the history of the sport.

I personally don’t think Novak is thinking about the golden slam. I think he wants to win the 23rd major of his career, which would be the record,” Becker said.

Becker then added that 22-time champion Rafael Nadal is still the favorite to win the 2024 French Open. “The next major is Roland-Garros, where, in my eyes, the favorite still is Rafael Nadal. But Novak is on his heels. So let’s see what these two great champions will deliver for us,” Becker added. Also Read: Andy Murray Saves 5 MPs To Defeat Lehecka, Reaches Qatar Open Final

Boris Becker also shed light on how the trio of Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Rafael Nadal has become not just sports but cultural icons. They have won 64 Majors between them and dominated the game for nearly two decades.

I think Djokovic, together with Nadal and Federer, are not only sports icons, they are cultural icons. They have a following that goes way beyond their respective countries- Serbia, Spain, and Switzerland,” Becker added. Becker then added that everyone will truly understand how big they are once they all retire. Also Read: Novak Djokovic Looks Forward To Playing In US Despite Being Unvaccinated
