World No.1 Novak Djokovic of Serbia will take on World No.5 Rafael Nadal in the quarterfinal of the 2022 French Open on Tuesday, May 31.
The defending champion Novak Djokovic yet again looks like he’s on an unbeatable run. After missing majority of the first quarter of the year, the Serb started off the clay season in a rusty manner. After early exits form few tournaments, the World No.1 finally registered his comeback by securing the title at Rome last week after defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final.
Since then, Djokovic has been timing his form perfectly in Roland Garros as he is moving closer to his 21st grand slam title. He has not dropped a set up until this point in the tournament and is looking unbeatable. He reached the fourth round after defeating Yoshihito Nishioka, Alex Molcan and Aljaz Bedene. He faced Diego Schwartzman in the fourth round of the tournament and he went on a Rampage as he totally walked over the Argentine. It has been a comfortable tournament so far, but it might not be the same this time.
Rafael Nadal is on a quest to conquer his 14th French Open Title and 22nd Grand Slam title in Paris this year. Even though there were uncertainties regarding his fitness prior to the tournament, he seems to be performing very well in the tournament so far. As he himself said, he is a player living with an injury and he just has to play with it.
The spaniard faced absolutely no trouble in the first three rounds of the tournament, as he defeated Jordan Thompson, Corentin Moutet and Botic Vande Zandschulp. He then came face to face against Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime. Facing his Uncle Toni Nadal’s coaching, the Spaniard had to play five sets to finally get through with the match. He is now to face the in man on mission Novak Djokovic who is seeking to level terms with Nadal on the Gran slam titles. Will he be able to stop the Serb in his conquest? Will find out on Tuesday.
