“It’s something really incredible that he continues to play like this,” Holger Rune heaps praise on Novak Djokovic

Djokovic recently won his 22nd Grand Slam at the Australian Open, which saw him reach the top spot of the rankings.

World No. 10 Holger Rune is amazed at how Novak Djokovic can pull off the same energy to win Grand Slam at this age. He thinks World No.1 is an inspiration to all the tennis players.

Rune is currently playing at the ATP 500 event Abierto Mexicano Telcet in Acapulco. He played against Ben Shelton in his opening match but lost the first set, before winning the match 6-7 (7), 6-4, 6-2. Before the match, the Dane talked about how he is getting used to being one of the most experienced players.

I think that with all the games I’ve played more and more games, being the player with the most experience, I’m getting used to that and it’s fine,” Rune said.

He then heaped on Ben Shelton for his excellent start to the year as he reached the quarter-final at the Australian Open. “He’s a player who started the year very well and already had a spectacular promotion last season,” Rune added. Rune then praised Novak Djokovic for his incredible game even at the age of 35 years. He hailed the Serb as an inspiration for all the tennis players.

It’s something really incredible that he continues to play like this,” he said. “The level that he has been showing for many years is tremendous. That he has been able to win the Australian Open and practically every tournament he plays at his age is an inspiration to all of us,” he added.

Djokovic recently won his 22nd Grand Slam at the 2024 Australian Open, which saw him reach the top spot of the rankings. He then broke the legendary Steffi Graf’s record for most weeks as World No.1 with a record of 378 weeks on top of the rankings.
