World No. 8 Casper Ruud will square off against teenage sensation Carlos Alcaraz for the 2022 Miami Open title on Sunday.
Following a disappointing early exit at Indian Wells, Ruud has made a spectacular comeback by reaching the biggest final of his career here at Miami. After beating his first few opponents in straight sets, he faced his first challenge in the quarterfinal against World No. 4 Alexander Zverev. After dropping the first set, he came from behind to cause a stunning upset. The Norwegian then defeated Francisco Cerundolo in straight sets to reach the final.
Alcaraz meanwhile has improved on his last showing at a Masters 1000 tournament. After losing in the semfinals of Indian Wells, Alcaraz has become the youngest player since Rafael Nadal to reach the final at Miami. The Spaniard has dominated everyone in this tournament being challenged only by Miomir Kecmanovic, whom he beat in a thrilling 3 setter. He then beat 8th seed Hubert Hurkacz in straight sets to reach the final.
