Men’s Singles
Rublev got past through round three amid Sinner’s injury
The 7th-seed Andrey Rublev leads to the quarterfinal and will play against either Daniil Medvedev or M. Cilic on Wednesday. Even though after the first set dropped by 1-6 he came back quickly with one set each. But, from the beginning of the third set, Jannik Sinner found himself in some uncomfortable form which leads him to retire from the match.
Casper Ruud found his way through to the quarters
Ruud made his maiden entry in the Grand Slam quarterfinals after outplaying the 12th-seed Hubert Hurkacz. Hurkacz somehow managed to turn over the match after taking the third set away from Ruud but could not make it to the fullest. Casper Ruud was ready with his powerful forehand all over the court resulting in a match win by 6-2,6-3,3-6,6-3.
Carlos Alcaraz continues to march ahead
The 19-year-old Carlos Alcaraz seems unstoppable after a straight three sets win over the Russian, Karen Khachanov by 6-1,6-4,6-4. Alcaraz showed his best defence against each volley hit by Khachanov. Khachanov made huge numbers of enforced errors thus letting Carlos take advantage of it which he took to convert it to 18 game wins.
Holger Rune crushed the World No 4, Stefanos Tsitsipas
Huge Upset: The unseeded Holger Rune disappoints the Greek No one, Stefanos Tsitsipas in four-set wins. Holger places himself in the quarterfinals of his debut Grand Slam. He will face the 8th-seed Casper Ruud on Wednesday, 1 June. The first set was neck to neck till 5-5 then Rune accelerated to break Tsitsipas’s serve to lead 6-5. Stefanos tried to level sets up but his performance was not up to the mark to achieve the match.
Men’s Doubles
Bopanna and Middelkoop reached the semis
The 42-year-old Indian, Rohan Bopanna with his doubles partner, Middelkoop reached their first Roland Garros semifinal. The pair saved five match points in the third round to advance to the quarters. Even after at 0-3 in the tiebreak, both played magical tennis to win all 10 points at once. Bopanna shined in the decider set tiebreak to win by 4-6,6-4,7-6(10-3).
Women’s Singles
Swiatek continues to win
Iga Swiatek defeated the young Chinese debutant, Zheng by 6-7,6-0,6-2. After 1 and half hours of playing the first set, Zheng wrapped the set by saving five breakpoints. However, Swiatek fought strong as usual and conquered the match advancing to the quarterfinals.
Kudermetova, Pegula and Kasatkina advance to the quarterfinals
After the first set drop against Begu, Jessica Pegula brilliant won through the third round by 4-6,6-2,6-3. Another great from Veronika Kudermetova to reach her first grand slam quarterfinal by beating Madison Keys (1-6,6-3,6-1). Daria Kasatkina beats Camila Giorgi in straight sets.
