Joe Pavelski and Claude set a brand new NHL Record

Forwards Joe Pavelski of Dallas Stars and Claude Giroux of Ottawa Senators have claimed a new record. The pair reached 1000 career points on their matches against the Redwings and the Hurricanes respectively. This is the first instance where two players have reached the 1000-point milestone in the same day.

Drafted in 2006 as the 22nd overall by Philadelphia Flyers, Claude Giroux played almost fifteen seasons with the Flyers. He also served as team captain for a very long time for the Philadelphia outfit. He was traded to Florida Panthers in the middle of the 2021-22 season. Ahead of the current season, Claude found himself in Ottawa Senators. Additionally, he also played couple of games with Eisaren Berlin.

Claude Giroux set up Tim Stutzle in the first period for the second goal of the game. The Giroux assist extended Sens lead by 2, which they eventually won 3-2.

Drafted in 2003 by San Jose Sharks, Joe Pavelski remained a key player for the Sharks for thirteen long years. An 4-time All Star Team member, Pavelski was a key element in Sharks’ Stanley Cup run in 2016. In all of his thirteen years, Sharks have missed playoffs just two times.

Dallas signed Joe in 2019. Joe continued his stellar form with Stars too. He also made Stanley Cup Finals with Stars. Nevertheless, Pavelski is one of the most celebrated American ice hockey players who have never won a Stanley Cup.

Pavelski has played 1248 games scoring 448 goals and 552 assists. His 1000th point came up in Stars’ six goal win as he tipped in their fifth. Also, Pavelski became the 97th NHL player to reach 1000 career points.

As for their teams, Dallas Stars have clinched the Playoff position in Central Division. Meanwhile, Senators have been eliminated from the 2022-23 Post season.
