Kawhi Leonard marked his return to NBA with a staggering performance post an injury-laden hiatus. The Clippers brought Leonard along with Paul George and Luke Kennard back in the team for the match against Charlotte Hornets on Monday. And Leonard sealed the comeback game for the Clippers with a match-winning shot at the last minute. Ecstatic with the win and his performance, Leonard expressed how the team’s united effort set the shot for him.
Kawhi Leonard returned to the court after his last game against Utah Jazz played on the 21st of November. Suffering an ankle sprain in the match, Leonard had to sit out for as many as seven matches. And thus, he realized the importance of playing the sport in his life. Expressing his ecstasy, Kawhi noted, “It felt good to be back. I love this game of basketball. I don’t think nobody loves playing any more than me. … I love this game and it gives me joy when I’m able to play and I mean, that ending was just great.”

Kawhi Leonard Credits Team Effort For the Match-Winning Shot Against Hornets
The game between the Clippers and the Hornets proved a true nail-biter with the teams tying at 117-117 in the last moments of the game. However, Leonard made all the difference in the game scoring a two-pointer from mid-range with 1.4 seconds remaining on the clock. Ultimately, Leonard ended the game with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Following the clash, Leonard reflected on how the team put him in the position to score the match-winning points.
“My teammates trusted me,” Kawhi Leonard said reflecting on the match-winning shot. “I said this, but I seen I had Terry Rozier on me at the time and they did a great job of getting one of their best defenders on me and then I was able to get in my spot. John threw a good pass, and then my team gave me space and I was able to create and knock down the shot,” he added.
While the match looked on the wire in the conclusive moments, it was not the case in the third quarter. The Hornets edged the Clippers with 36 overboard scores in the phase. “We’re up nine, eight points pretty much the whole game. I would rather close it out rather than have it us close it out like that. But it was a good fourth quarter for our second unit and we were able to get the win,” Leonard stated about the win.
