Michael Jordan receives support after Jason Williams’ controversial statements

Michael Jordan was a true one-of-a-kind scorer. His Airness arguably had no holes in his offense. A round force in scoring, the Chicago Bulls legend humiliated the best of the league’s defenders. However, over time the game has changed.

Both ends of the floor have evolved. This has given rise to a major debate. The dynamic of the game has changed a lot. From big centers and mid-range shooting, the game has shifted to agile point guards and deep 3-point shots. Just how would the great scorers of the past fair out against the updated defenses of the modern era?

Jason Williams’ statements

Keeping MJ as the testing specimen, legendary point guard, Jason Williams made an interesting case. According to him, the 10-time scoring champion could easily score against defenders such as Gary Payton, who won DPOY honors.

However, when matched up against current NBA defenses, especially top teams such as the Milwaukee Bucks, White Chocolate can’t see Jordan getting past with ease.

A long-time supporter of the six-time champion, Chris Broussard was beside himself hearing Williams. Likewise, he went at the former All-Star and shed light on the competition that Jumpman had to endure.

Support for Michael Jordan

In a time where the GOAT spot is a battle between two, Broussard has picked his side. The popular analyst believes Michael Jordan trumps his counterpart, LeBron James. And when he heard Williams try to discredit Jordan’s offensive capabilities, he couldn’t hold it in.

Listing just a few of the names MJ had to tackle, Broussard provided his views on how His Airness would excel in this era.

He said: “Stop it, Jason Williams! And this is not about, ‘That was our era’. This is not, ‘Old man get off my lawn’. This is none of that. Jason, did you watch basketball in the 1980s and the 1990s? Even if you didn’t watch, are you aware that when Michael Jordan got to the rim, who was at the rim? Shaquille O’Neal, Alonzo Mourning, Dikembe Mutombo, Patrick Ewing, David Robinson. Are you kidding me?”

Undoubtedly, Michael Jordan faced some of the toughest defenders in the history of the NBA. In addition, he was a successful offensive phenom against arguably them all. A competitor with an undying will, His Airness still holds the record for the highest career scoring average of all time with 30.1 points per game. He leads the race by a mile with his ten scoring titles.

There are probably just a few names who had the magic of scoring the ball as great as Jordan did. The NBA Hall of Famer put up staggering numbers in an era defenses were much more physical. The only drawback in his arsenal was a lack of a consistent three-point shot.

However, given the modern-era runs and Jordan’s insane work ethic, the six-time Finals MVP would most probably have added that weapon to his bag too.
