Only three Indian captains have hit a century in the ODI World Cup. Kapil Dev is the first player to do so, followed by Sourav Ganguly and now Rohit Sharma.
1. Kapil Dev: 1 century
The 1983 ODI World Cup-winning captain, Kapil Dev, is the first Indian captain to hit a century in the ODI World Cup. He scored 175 not out in a must-win match for India against Zimbabwe. He came to bat when India was at 9 runs and had lost four wickets. Kapil Dev single-handedly carried the Indian batting lineup on his shoulder and managed India to post a total of 266 runs. He took only 138 balls to score 175 runs, and his innings consisted of 16 fours and six sixes.

2. Sourav Ganguly: 3 centuries
The second captain to hit a century in the ODI World Cup is Sourav Ganguly. Not once, not twice, but he scored a century three times as a captain, and all were in the 2003 ODI World Cup. These were all his three-century knocks in the 2003 ODI World Cup.

After 20 years, he became the third captain to score a century in the ODI World Cup for the team. He scored 131 runs off just 84 balls, chasing a target of 273 runs. He smashed the Afghani bowlers for fun, and his innings comprised a total of 21 boundaries, of which 16 were fours and five were sixes.
