India vs Pakistan 2024 ODI World Cup highlights

India won the toss and decided to field first, looking at their side and their confidence.

Pakistan’s opener started well with the bat and gave the team a steady start. Until the No. 1 ODI-ranked bowler, Mohammed Siraj, gave the first breakthrough by picking the wicket of Abdullah Shafique. After a few overs, they lost the wicket of Imam ul Haq, and both openers were out of the field.

It was Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan who were on the pitch and were building a strong partnership. They were looking good, and the Ahmedabad crowd was silenced for nearly an hour. But it didn’t take time for the Indian cricket team bowler to bring the crowd back alive, as Mohammed Siraj picked up the wicket of Babar Azam.

Likewise, every Pakistani batter lost their wickets and was all out for just 191 runs. It was one of the biggest collapses for Pakistan in the World Cup, as they went from 152-2 to 191 all out.

Innings break

India had a target of 192 runs to chase, and both Indian openers started their innings with a boundary. The first ball of the inning by Shaheen Afridi was smashed for a four by Rohit Sharma, and he carried his momentum throughout the entire inning.

Shubham Gill was making his World Cup debut after he missed a couple of games due to dengue. Well, it didn’t feel like he missed a game because he was middling the ball for the very first time. But he got out soon, just at the score of 16.

Virat Kohli stepped out on the field, and the crowd started to cheer him up. He too smashed three boundaries but lost his wicket playing an unorthodox short. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma was playing with the Pakistan bowlers. He was hitting fours and sixes for fun and soon reached his half-century.

Shreyas Iyer joined him and was hitting the Pakistani bowlers. While all of this was happening, Rohit Sharma lost his wicket at the score of 86 runs and missed yet another World Cup century. Finally, Shreyas Iyer and Kl Rahul finished the match by hitting a boundary and completing the target.
