7. Vivian Richards – West Indies

Former West Indian legend Vivian Richards is the seventh player in the list of 7 Legendary captains who never won an ICC Trophy. He led the team team into 105 ODI matches. His team won 64 of them and lost 36. Viv Richards got himself into the best captains West Indies had. But the one thing he couldn’t get in his career, an ICC Trophy. 6. Graeme Smith – South Africa

Former South African captain Graeme Smith took charge of the South African team at a very young age. He led South African team in 150 ODIs and was able to won 92 matches. Apart from these, South Africa lost 51 matches under his captaincy. However, Smith wasn’t as successful in ICC events. Under his captaincy, South Africa participated in 2007, 2011 World Cup and also in a couple of T20 World Cups. But he couldn’t made an impact with his leadership in ICC events. 5. Wasim Akram – Pakistan

Former Pakistani spearhead Wasim Akram is the fifth player in the list of 7 Legendary captains who never won an ICC Trophy. He was an influential figure in the Pakistani Cricket setup. The left arm pacer led by example by taking the onus with the ball in hand. He has a much healthy record while captaining the side. He captained in 109 ODI matches and Pakistan won 66 out of them. However, Wasim was never a successful captain in ICC Tournaments. Under his leadership, Pakistan failed in 1999 World Cup Final and even ruled out in QF against India in 1996.

4. AB de Villiers – South Africa

Former South African captain AB de Villiers captained his team and led South Africa in 103 ODI matches. His team won 59 matches while lost 39 out of these matches. AB de Villiers captained in 18 T20Is also for South Africa by winning 8 and losing 9 of those. AB got himself as one of the best captains South Africa ever had. But one thing he couldn’t get in his career- an ICC trophy. He captained in 2015 World Cup and his team managed to lose in the Semifinal. In 2012 T20 World Cup, his team couldn’t even make to the semifinals. With this record, AB de Villiers made into the list of 7 Legendry captains who never won an ICC Trophy.

3. Mohammad Azharuddin – India

Former Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin captained India in 174 ODI matches. Indian Cricket Team won 90 of these matches and lost 76 matches. Azhar got himself among the one of the best captains India ever had. Azhar captained in three ICC Cricket World Cups. In those tournaments, India reached semifinals but lost in the semifinals. And with this forgettable record, Azharuddin finds himself in the list of 7 Legendary Captains who never won an ICC Trophy. 2. Mahela Jayawardene – Sri Lanka

Former Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardene captained his team in 145 international matches. Sri Lanka won 80 of those matches and lose 55 matches under his leadership. Mahela got himself among the best leaders Sri Lanka ever had, but one thing he couldn’t get in his career- an ICC Trophy. Mahela captained in various ICC trophies and finished as Runners up in a couple of matches and not reached in the semifinals in one edition. And with this, Mahela finds himself in this unwanted list of Legendary captains.

1. Virat Kohli – India

And on the first spot in this list is former Indian white ball captain Virat Kohli. He led India in 145 games in White ball and managed to win 85 games out of them. Under his leadership, India lost only 43 White ball games. He has brilliant 70.43 winning percentage. However, apart from this brilliant record, one thing is missing – an ICC Trophy. Virat Kohli never managed to lead the team to an ICC Trophy. Under his leadership, India lost the final to Championship Trophy Final against Pakistan in 2017. India also lost World Test Championship Final 2021 against New Zealand. Also, under his leadership, India can’t made it to the knockouts of T20 World Cup 2021.
