The Gabbar misses out on the Indian cricket team for the ICC ODI World Cup 2024. This is not the first time he has missed out on the Indian cricket team. But he hasn’t been part of the team at various ICC events and tours post-pandemic.
He was the man of ICC events for the Indian cricket team and was one of the best openers in modern-day cricket. Dhawan, along with his partners Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, carried the Indian batting line-up all alone. They were often the top scorers for the team, but without him, both Rohit and Virat have found it difficult.
Well, the players who had the opportunity to place at Shikhar’s place have performed impressively. Shubham Gill and Ishan Kishan have both given their best whenever they got a chance to open and have even scored a double-century in ODIs. On the flip side, when Rohit Sharma was back in the ODI set-up after two back-to-back T20i World Cups, Shikhar had to leave his place for the captain.

The player’s life has completely changed in the past couple of years. He got next to zero chances in the Indian cricket team, got separated from his wife, and has not been able to meet his son since the divorce.
We don’t know what is in the player’s future, as everything he loved has slipped out of his hands. All we can do is hope and pray for the best for Shikhar Dhawan and his future in cricket.
