UCL has always stolen the spotlight for European competition but lately, it is the Europa League and Conference League who are not failing to deliver. It was the Semi-finals of the Europa League and that gave us two memorable clashes. Juventus matched up against Sevilla and Roma had to fight against Bayer Leverkusen for their shot at the spot in the final.
The first leg was a boost of adrenaline, a stellar matchup. Jose Mourinho is closer to winning his sixth European trophy and as Roma secured a sweet victory over the German side, it seems more probable. Roma had the upper hand with a scoreline of 1-0. The only goal of the game at Stadio Olimpico was scored by 20-year-old Edoardo Bove in the 62nd minute of the match. Also Read: Barca Legend Busquets Set To Leave The Club After This Season
A strike from the rebound ensured the victory for the Italian side. Though in terms of the possession, the German side dominated the pitch (61.9%). But offensively, Roma was the superior one with more shots and attack buildups.
Though things went smoothly on one side of Italy, Juve didn’t have a comfortable game after all. A late equalizer from the substitute Gatti ensured Juve does not grab a loss. Though Juve dominated the game in almost every aspect of it, Sevilla managed to capitalize on the chance in the first half. Also Read: Manchester City Vs Real Madrid Preview
Youssef En-Nesyri managed to grab the first breakthrough in the 26th minute of the game. An assist from the Argentine winger Ocampos found unmarked En-Nesyri and he managed to score the first of the game. Then Juve was having a tough time getting one passed the net. It was the dying moments of the game when Gatti was assisted by Paul Pogba.
This sums up the first legs of the exciting matchups. Jose will be in search of his sixth European trophy as Juve will hunt for their first one in 27 years. In this race of prey and predators, who will come out on top? To figure that out, we have to tune in for the second leg. Also Read: Mourinho Replies To PSG Links Amid The UEL Matchup
