Barcelona beats 10-man Osasuna with the help of Jordi Alba’s goal.

Initial Observation

On Tuesday, Barcelona defeated Osasuna 1-0 at Camp Nou thanks to a late goal from defender Jordi Alba, who came on as a substitute. The hosts went one step closer to winning their 27th La Liga championship with the win.

With 33 games remaining, Barca increased their advantage over Real Madrid, who are in second place and are scheduled to play at Real Sociedad later on Tuesday, to 14 points after reaching 82 points from 33 games. Also read: Real Madrid defeated Al Hilal to win a record fifth Club World Cup.

Real Madrid is on 68 points with five games left, while Barcelona is four points away from winning the championship. Barcelona’s best-case scenario would only allow them to reach 86 points.

If all goes according to plan, Barca might hoist the cup before their supporters on May 21 when they play Real Sociedad at Camp Nou.With Osasuna defending tenaciously and for a large portion of the game with 10 men, Barca wasted a number of opportunities.

Osasuna held on until the 85th minute when Robert Lewandowski passed to Frenkie de Jong, who headed the ball to Alba for a left-footed goal. This came after defender Jorge Herrando was sent off for a foul that stopped Pedri from scoring midway through the first half.

Title Hopes

It was a crucial step because we suffered excessively while attempting to break the tie, according to coach Xavi Hernandez. “We passed up some undeniable chances. Jordi’s goal later made it nearly preferable to win in that manner.

We struggled to score on the numerous chances we produce, but we played with vigor and I believe we deserved to win. We lacked efficacy, but that’s a summation of the season. The league is nearly done. After winning the previous two games, such was the feeling. It was an enormous step.

Chances created

Before Hernando was sent off, Barca began to waste the ball when Pedri missed a sitter from close range in the 25th minute. Coach Xavi had to replace an injured Gavi with Ansu Fati after Raphinha’s free-kick from the edge of the area went wide.

All four of these players—Araujo, De Jong, and Ansu Fati—missed excellent opportunities, and Lewandowski also had a goal disallowed in the 78th minute by video assistant referee (VAR) for offside in the play-making.

The game appeared to be headed for a scoreless draw when Alba snuck under the defenders and snuck a goal between the right post and goalie to move Barcelona one step closer to the championship.
