According to reports, Manchester United have jumped in to sign the Ajax and Argentine sensation Lisandro Martinez and it is also believed that they are in a very advanced stage to complete this deal. The key to this deal is Erik Ten Hag cause Martinez is really looking forward to join his former coach again and hence he could choose the Red Devils ahead of other clubs. But before United, Arsenal were in the race to sign him for a few weeks and since then the Gunners have submitted not one but three bids to Ajax in order to sign the Center Back and after the third bid it was highly likely that it was a done deal between the 2 clubs, but now that United have jumped in to hijack the deal, it would be interesting to see where this transfer saga goes.

The deal of Lisandro Martinez could be really crucial for the season of United cause as of now there isn’t a single area on the pitch where Ten Hag is confident about the players on it and if the hierarchy of the Manchester club manage to pull this deal off, it would be a perfect pair of Raphael Varane and Martinez in the heart United’s defence. The Red Devils certainly have the power and financial sustainability to complete this deal as it was reported a few months back that Ten Hag has been given a budget of 150 Million Euros for this summer transfer window. So this certainly shows that there isn’t a problem of money and it all comes down to the player’s will and a call from Ten Hag to Martinez could influence the decision of him not choosing to join Arsenal.
As a player, Martinez is by far a defender who has the potential to become one of the bests in the world. He has already won Copa America with his national team and in the Champions League too anyone can see his qualities, which is why many top European clubs are interested in signing him. So it is believed that Ajax wants at least 50 Million Euros for the Argentine Center Back and they could also easily enforce a bidding war between the clubs to jack up the price. So all in all to avoid any more clubs entering in this deal it is better for United to complete this signing as soon as possible.
