Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has ‘agreed personal terms’ with French club OGC Nice, multiple reports have stated. The Danish shot stopper has been with the Foxes for over a decade, and the club is willing to sell him if a suitable replacement can be found in time for the start of the new Premier League season.
Leicester are ready to consider offers for Schmeichel after failing to reach an agreement on a new contract, and they are eager to recoup a transfer fee before his contract expires next summer.
Schmeichel’s impending departure comes after an unusual pre-season in which the Foxes No. 1 was given an extra week off to rest after international duty at the end of last season.
In any case, manager Brendan Rodgers will be eager to name a No. 1 keeper ahead of next season as he looks to improve a defence that struggled to defend set-pieces last season.

According to Get French Football News, two potential targets have emerged. The first is Bernd Leno, the out-of-favor Arsenal goalkeeper. Despite starting the season as Mikel Arteta’s first choice between the sticks, summer signing Aaron Ramsdale took over for the remainder of the season.
Leno played only eight games in total, falling far short of his previous season’s total of 49. The 30-year-old, like Schmeichel, has only one season left on his current contract in the capital.

The other option is to go in the opposite direction that Schmeichel appears to be heading. Nantes goalkeeper Alban Lafont is also said to be in the running. Former France under-21 international, the 23-year-old captained Nantes to Coupe de France victory last season, defeating Nice 1-0 in the final. Lafont has already made over 200 appearances in France’s top flight, as well as a season in Serie A with Fiorentina.
