Scamacca to PSG; PSG eyeing Sassuolo striker for €50 million

As Icardi is set to leave, Galtier looks to find a replacement.

Italian striker Gianluca Scamacca is being eyed by French champions Paris Saint-Germain. He currently plays for Sassuolo, who have set a €50 million price tag on the forward, as per reputable Italian jouralist Fabrizio Romano.

New PSG boss Christophe Galtier aims to make his second signing of the summer, after signing Portugese midfielder Vitinha from Porto for €41.5 million.

Scamacca joined PSV Eindhoven in January 2015 after receiving training at the junior academies of Lazio and Roma. The tall Italian attacker joined Sassuolo in 2017 and, at the age of 18, made his Serie A debut.

He burst onto the scene following a stellar season with Sassuolo, where he scored 16 goals and assisted twice in 36 Serie A appearances. His playstyle is compared to the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Christian Vieri, due to his height and dominance as a striker, as well as his skill with the ball and contribution to teamwork.

Sassuolo’s disappointing 11th-place finish this year may be one of the primary factors motivating Scamacca to seek a transfer to a team challenging for a European championship.

PSG is up against English side Arsenal in the race to get Scamacca, but they believe they have an advantage because Arsenal recently acquired Gabriel Jesus from rivals Manchester City for €45 million.

Director of Football at Sassuolo, Giovanni Carnevali, has revealed that he has discussed the future of promising striker Gianluca Scamacca with new PSG president Luis Campos.
