Dortmund vs Mainz Preview, Team News and Predicted Lineup and score

Initial Observation

On Saturday, Borussia Dortmund will meet Mainz 05 with the goal of capturing their first Bundesliga championship in 11 years with a win. BVB is in first place at the top of the table going into the last match of the season, two points ahead of Bayern Munich, who have consistently won the German premier division. Few would have predicted that Borussia Dortmund would be leading the Bundesliga with one game left just over a year after selling goal-scoring machine Erling Braut Haaland. However, head coach Edin Terzic aims to become the first BVB manager to win the title since Jurgen Klopp and finally end a decade of Bayern dominance.

The impressive 10-game Bundesliga undefeated streak Mainz put up from February 11 to April 22 was the largest of any team in the division then. Bo Svensson’s team had risen quickly in the top-flight standings thanks to such a run, and they were now in the running to earn a European qualifying position for the first time since 2015–16. However, Mainz’s dreams of finishing in the top seven have now been dashed following four straight league losses, each of which saw at least three goals surrendered, including last weekend’s 4-1 home loss to relegation-threatened Stuttgart. Dortmund Team News

Thomas Meunier and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens (shoulder) will be out due to injuries, and Soumaila Coulibaly will be absent since she is representing France at the Under-20 World Cup. Jude Bellingham, a talented midfielder, missed the victory against Augsburg due to a slight knee damage, but the teenager is fit to play on Saturday and may line up with Brandt and Emre Can in the center of the pitch. Mats Hummels, a veteran defender who just signed a new deal with BVB, is expected to start as the team’s captain at the back. The former Bayern player is aiming for becoming the first player in German history to capture at least three championships with two separate teams.

Mainz Team News

Jonathan Burkardt (knee), Alexander Hack (groin), Silvan Widmer (ankle), and Maxim Leitsch (match fitness) are all out for Mainz due to injuries, while Ludovic Ajorque is suspended due to receiving too many yellow cards and is unable to play.

However, Andreas Hanchey-Olsen is free to play after serving a one-match suspension of his own and is anticipated to replace Aymen Barok in the three-man defense, with Dominik Kohr transferring to center-midfield alongside Leandro Barreiro. In order to help the forwards Inguardsen and Karim Onesimo, who have combined for 19 league goals this season, Anton Stach will probably move into an advanced midfield position.
