There is so much uncertainty nowadays in any series happening due to the Covid situation. many countries have canceled the tours due to the situation. But this series is happening and there will be cricket action for the cricket fans around the world. West Indies last played a 50-over game way back in July against Australia. Ireland won the toss and decided to field first. Ireland players Simi Singh and Ben White were out of the contention for selection as they have tested positive for Coronavirus. First Innings

Shai Hope and Nicholas Pooran batted solidly in the first powerplay. West Indies were 59-1 in the 17th over. But the situation changed completely in the next two overs. West Indies found themselves at 62-4 at the end of 19th over. But West Indian captain Keiron Pollard joined debutant Shamarh Brooks in the middle and the pair put on a partnership of 155 runs. This partnership changed the momentum of West Indies innings. Shamarh Brooks missed his century by 7 runs but he batted beautifully in his first ODI match. Ireland bowlers restricted West Indies in the death overs and West Indies were managed to score 269 runs.
Second Innings
Chasing a par total, Ireland lost their opener William Porterfield early on a 9 ball duck. But captain Balbirnie and Andy McBrine batted solidly against the dangerous looking West Indian bowling attack. However, McBrine went on to hook a bouncer and it was struck on his helmet. Due to this he was showing outward distress and had to got retired hurt. This was a massive blow for Ireland because he was batting solidly. Harry Tector also batted well with a deserving half century. But wickets tumbled in the middle and Ireland lost wickets in the need of acceleration. Ireland got all out on 245 runs and West Indies won this match by 24 runs. West Indies bowlers Alzarri Joseph and Romario Shepherd were brilliant. They both shared three wickets each.

Shamarh Brooks, for his brilliant batting display, was adjudged as the Man of the Match in West Indies vs Ireland 1st ODI. He played an innings of 93 runs on his debut. Brooks missed his well deserved century by 7 runs. West Indies were in pressure situation after 20 overs as West Indies lost three quick wickets. Brooks batted with captain Pollard and made batting looks so easy in his very first ODI innings. He soaked the pressure and batted beautifully. He made batting look increasingly easy in his very first innings. The West Indian has played 8 Tests and 3 T20Is for West Indies.
