Watch: 21-year-old yet to play first-class cricket Leicestershire pacer dismisses Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma

Ahead of the England Series Team India has been playing a four-day warm-up game in the English County circuit against Leicestershire on Thursday, June 23. However, the opening day wasn’t a pleasant one for the Indian players. Batting first after winning the toss, they scored 246 for 8 in 60.2 overs when rain halted the gameplay. A storm of critics thronged the social media criticizing Team India for their average show. The young Leicestershire pacer Roman Walker yet to play first-class cricket decimated the Indian batting line up bagging a fifer. Walker’s figures of 5 for 24 in 11 overs were pretty impressive.

Keeper-batter Srikar Bharat was the lone half centurian top-scoring for India with an unbeaten 70 off 111. He stroked eight fours and a six. Skipper Rohit Sharma was dismissed for 25 while Shubman Gill walked back after scoring 21off 28.

The middle-order too followed the trend Hanuma Vihari, Shreyas Iyer and Ravindra Jadeja went back without disturbing the scoreboard much. Virat Kohli however ignited the spark of India’s revival but he too was sent home for 33 off 69 balls.
