The second edition of The Hundred will be played in August 2022. While the 8 franchises have assembled a squad by retaining players. Moreover, a draft was conducted to fill in the remaining places. Now, a ‘wildcard’ draft will take place enabling each side to pick 2 more players in the vacant salary band. South African sensations that were picked in the IPL 2022 after excellent performances, Tristan Stubbs and Dewald Brevis have registered for the ‘wildcard’ draft. Moreover, a total of 257 players have applied for the ‘wildcard’ draft. Each team is allowed to pick 1 home and 1 overseas player from the draft. With this final draft, the 8 franchises will complete their squads for Hundred 2022.
Moreover, the 100-ball tournament organized by the England and Wales Cricket Board also has a women’s league. However, with Women’s cricket’s inclusion in Commonwealth Games 2022 the matches for the Women’s Hundred 2022 have been reduced. The Women’s teams will play just 6 matches in comparison with Men’s 8 matches.

Earlier, in the April draft, some renowned names in cricket were passed over given their unavailability. Babar Azam and David Warner will also be looking forward to the ‘Wildcard’ draft.
Earlier, Dewald Brevis stunned World cricket with his exceptional performance in the U-19 WC. His record-breaking game had attracted IPL franchises. However, Mumbai Indians won the bidding war signing him for INR 3 crores. Playing 7 matches, he unleashed some shots of his collection and won hearts. Moreover, Dewald Brevis picked a wicket, dismissing Virat Kohli.
Tristan Stubbs also was a part of MI but was included in the squad as a player replacement. He played 2 matches failing to perform. However, his performances in the CSA T20 Challenge have made heads turn.
