Shimron Hetmyer to RR for massive 8.5 cr is overpriced, to be honest. David Warner was sold to Delhi for 6.25 cr is very good. And if you compare Hetmyer’s deal to Warner’s, it is definitely a little over the top. RR has bought Devdutt Padikkal and Hetmyer till now. Padikkal’s inclusion in RR is something that is not clicking because they already have Yashaswi Jaiswal and Buttler at the top.

Shimron Hetmyer bats in the middle order. He is an explosive player and can also play sensibly when situation arise. Lately he has not been in form and is not part of the West Indies squad against India. He was also not selected for the series against England and Ireland because he was not able to pass fitness test. Fitness is an issue with Shimron. Rajasthan Royals would have to think about this buy because of his form and fitness. The fact that he was sold for 8.5 cr, more than David Warner is still hard to digest for many fans. But this is IPL, surprises are part and parcel of it. Don’t forget even Chris Morris was sold for over 16 cr last year. All said and done, he can provide good support in the middle, provided his form and fitness are alright.
