The Indian team has been trying out various leadership candidates in 2022. With the BCCI announcing the ODI squad for the West Indies tour which will be held later this month, a 7th captain is set to lead India. Shikhar Dhawan is all set to captain team India in West Indies ODI. He will not just be making a comeback to the Indian team after 5 months. But will also be leading the Indian side. Ravindra Jadeja who was appointed as CSK skipper is named Dhawan’s deputy.
Since T20 WC 2022 is to be played soon, BCCI has decided to rest some of its all-format players from the WI ODI series. Therefore, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Mohammad Shami, and Jasprit Bumrah are not a part of the squad. In addition, Ravindra Jadeja makes a place in the team as Hardik Pandya and Dinesh Karthik miss the series.
Shikhar Dhawan to lead India in the West Indies ODI
Shikhar Dhawan has previously led India on the Sri Lanka tour last year. Moreover, he has captained Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2014.
India will be playing 3 ODIs against West Indies. All One Day Internationals beginning 22nd July will be played at Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad. The coverage for ODIs will begin at 19:00 IST.
