The Knight Riders Group on Thursday made an official announcement as Shahrukh Khan buys one more T20 team. The franchise issued a public statement on their social media handle that they have successfully acquired the rights to possess and operate the Abu Dhabi franchise. They will also make sure that this franchise becomes a pivotal part as the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders (ADKR) in the upcoming UAE’s T20 League.

As already known, the KKR team is led by Shahrukh Khan along with other owners of the franchise. As a matter of fact, he revealed that they have been closely watching the potential of T20 league in UAE for quite some time now. Also, they want to expand KKR as a global brand. This is what Shahrukh Khan had to say in an official release; “For several years now, we have been expanding the Knight Riders globally and closely watching the potential for T20 League in UAE. We’re excited about becoming a part of UAE’s T20 League, which no doubt will become hugely successful.”

However, this is not the first time for a cricket group to own a team in UAE’s T20 League. Before, KKR Group, there are five other team owners who have reserves their own respective franchises in the League. These five include Adani Group; Capri Global, Lancer Capital, Reliance Strategic Business Ventures Limited and GMR Group. Although, Adani Group has got the possession of the franchise just 4 days before. Not to mention, in these five names, Reliance Strategic Business Ventures Limited and GMR Group are already the owners of the IPL franchises; Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals.
