11 Players SRH Should Target in IPL Mega Auction 2022

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have a purse remaining of 68 crores in which they have to pick and choose potential players for future. This might be the last of the mega auctions and teams are running a race against time to build a good squad. The franchise has retained Kane Williamson (INR 14 crore), Abdul Samad (INR 4 crore) and Umran Malik (INR 4 crore). It is now that they have to complete their squad from a galaxy of wonderful players. The team made their first IPL appearance in 2013, where they reached the playoffs, eventually finishing in fourth place. The Sunrisers won their maiden IPL title in the 2016 season, defeating the Royal Challengers Bangalore by 8 runs in the final. Therefore, ahead of auctions, here is a list of 11 players SRH should target in IPL mega auction 2022.

11 Players SRH Should Target in IPL Mega Auction 2022

1. Faf du Plessis

Francois “Faf” du Plessis is a South African international cricketer and former captain of the South Africa national cricket team. Du Plessis took good form into the 2015 World Cup, after becoming the second South African to score a T20I century after Richard Levi, in February that year. He was among those left devastated by South Africa’s semi-final loss. While du Plessis continued to rack up runs in ODIs, he was criticised for occasionally scoring too slowly. He started to struggle in the longest format and after managing just one fifty in 12 innings in the 2015-16 season, he was dropped for the final Test against England in January 2016. He was the second most run scorer in IPL 2021 with 633 runs in 16 games for CSK. It is great opportunity to grab him in the auction.

2. Jason Roy

Born in South Africa, Roy came to the UK aged 10 and soon started to move through the system. He was a hugely successful schoolboy cricketer for Whitgift, and made his Surrey debut as a 17-year-old in 2008 during the Twenty20 Cup and his fielding talents were noticed by England, who used him as a sub later that summer against South Africa.

Sunrisers Hyderabad handed a debut to England opener Jason Roy in their Indian Premier League 2021 match against Rajasthan Royals on Monday. Roy was bought by the franchise at the IPL 2021 auctions last year – but he did not get a game in the first leg of the tournament in India. Roy returned for the second phase of the season which was being played in the UAE — but had to wait for his opportunity. In IPL 2021, he scored 150 runs in 5 matches with an average of 30.00. If given a fair chance, he will prove to be an asset to the team.

3. Wriddhiman Saha

Wriddhiman Prasanta Saha is an Indian international cricketer who plays for Indian national cricket team and first class matches domestically for Bengal. Saha played for KKR in the first three sessions on IPL but in 2011 he was picked by CSK as a reserve wicket keeper for MS Dhoni. In 2014 IPL Auction Saha was purchased by Kings XI Punjab as a specialist wicketkeeper. In the tournament Saha not only took some good catches but also contributed with the bat. He made 362 runs at an average of 32.90 and a strike rate of 145.38. In 2020 season, he only played 4 matches and scored 214 runs including 2 brilliant half centuries as an opener for SRH. So, it would be great if they manage to get him back in the team.

While his stint with the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the 2021 edition might have been cut short due to the batter pulling out of the UAE leg, his numbers in the shorter format show that he is a potential game-changer. Therefore, he should be one of 11 players SRH should target in IPL mega auction 2021.

In 2021 IPL, he managed to take 14 wickets in 15 matches for Chennai Super Kins (CSK). Thus, MI has a great opportunity to grab him in their team this time.
