NZ skipper Kane Williamson tests COVID positive, to miss the second Test vs England

Williamson undertook a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) after experiencing minor symptoms.

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson was ruled out of the second Test against England in Nottingham on Friday, after testing positive for Covid-19 on the eve of the match. Williamson undertook a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) after experiencing minor symptoms during the day. New Zealand coach Gary Stead said the rest of the New Zealand squad returned negative tests.

“It’s such a shame for Kane to be forced to withdraw on the eve of such an important match. We’re all feeling for him at this time and know how disappointed he will be

SAID COACH GARY STEAD

It would be hard for New Zealand to lose their Captain as well as a mainstay batter especially when they are desperate to keep the Test series alive after losing the first match by five wickets. A win or a draw at Trent Bridge is a must for the visitors as it’s a three-match Test series.
