Pakistan’s teenager fast-bowler Naseem Shah would be auctioning his Asia Cup 2022 six-hitting bat through the welfare foundation run by former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi. He took to social media on Friday to announce the news. The foundation is running a nationwide flood relief campaign in Pakistan.
“This bat is very precious for me but the situation in the wake of floods in Pakistan, I am giving it to Shahid Afridi Foundation because Lala always helps the destitute and deserving people whenever there is a hard time,” Naseem Shah said in his video.
19-year-old Shah expressed that the bat was memorable to him. As he had used it while hitting the 2 winning sixes against Afghanistan in the Super 4 stage of the continental tournament. The much-needed last two ball sixes had ensured Pakistan a berth in the finals. However, the bat was given to him by fellow pacer Mohammad Hasnain. Nonetheless, a video shared by Pakistan Cricket Board earlier in September claimed the nod by Hasnain.
Moreover, he also urged Afridi to help those affected in his hometown as well. Considering the condition in Pakistan, young Naseem’s initiative is highly-applaudable.
