Mumbai Indians won their last match of the tournament which was played against Delhi Capitals. The match was on Saturday and winning it was Delhi Capitals’s only way to make it to the playoffs. However, Royal Challengers Bangalore, after winning their last match against Gujarat Titans, made it to the fourth position on the Points Table. As a matter of fact, if DC would’ve won against MI, then they would make it to the playoffs and not RCB when their net run rates would have been compared. Therefore, it was quite important for RCB too that MI wins this match so that the hopes for the Bangalore fans still stay alive. And with MI’s win over DC, RCB enters the playoffs.
Royal Challengers Bangalore, on their social media handles, even changed their logo from red to blue in order to show support for the MI Paltan. They shared posts in favour of Mumbai Indians victory with the tagline/hashtag, ‘#RedturnsBlue’. Mumbai Indians restricted the DC batsmen to a total score of 159 runs. However, the MI batsmen were pretty consistent with heir batting on the crease. Tim David shone the most as he smashed 34 runs off just 11 deliveries. Also, Jasprit Bumrah contributed to the win through his skills with the ball. He picked up 3 wickets and conceded 25 runs. With a wholesome performance, MI won the match by 5 wickets.
The moment DC lost their only chance to get to the playoffs, people on Twitter started reacting massively.
