With now the new season of IPL 2024 incoming a mini auction is held in the month of December. All IPL teams have Retained and released some players. Following the mega auction of IPL 2022, Kolkata Knight Riders was reformed with the new Captain explosive middle order batsmen Shreyas Iyer. Shreyas Iyer performed well with the bat scoring 401 highest for the team but wasn’t having a tournament with captaincy. The Team performance in last IPL season under Shreyas Iyer’s Captaincy was average and ended up seventh in the Points Table. In some matches the batters played well whereas in some matches the bowler played well. The team could not carry its winning momentum and were not able to qualify to the playoffs. The team has shown faith in the above 11 players from their last year’s squad. Shreyas Iyer was the highest run scorer for the team following up with Andre Russel, Nitish Rana, and Venkatesh Iyer. They have retained both their Powerplay attack bowler Umesh Yadav and Tim Southee. Both the player performed well throughout the season especially the Powerplay overs by picking up wickets. Kolkata Knight Riders has always relied on their Spin Bowler Sunil Narine and over the last 3 years Varun Chakravarthy. They both have been Economical and have given important break throughs in the middle over. Rinku Singh was the Gem they found in the last season. With his explosive and big hitting Performance the player impressed everyone in the season, he only played seven matches scoring 174 runs at the strike rate of 148.71. The team has also shown faith in the uncapped Indian players Anukul Roy and Harshit Rana.

The list of released players of Kolkata Knight Rider player is a very long list. The team released a total of 16 players including current and former Australian Captain Pat Cummins and Aaron Finch. With the Ashes Test Cricket following up after IPL 2024 Pat Cummins have opted out of the season. Whereas Alex Hales and Sam Billings opted out of IPL 2024 due to personal Reasons. One of the shocking players in this list is the young Indian pacer Shivam Mavi. The team has trained the player since the player played his U19 ODI World Cup.
