“Karthik or Pant”: Netizens Start Heated Argument For Next Match’s Wicketkeeper In The Playing 11

India has started the T20 World Cup campaign with a glorious win. The opening match witnessed India triumphing over their noted rivals Pakistan in a nail-biting clash. The bowling side of India performed fairly well with the pace attack looking seemingly dangerous. However, this match, if taken a look beyond the win, has presented some loopholes in the batting line-up.

If it was not for the majestic Virat Kohli knock, the batting line-up of India dwindled sourly in a chase of 160. Not a great sign for any fanatic of the game. The openers didn’t perform well, and the live-wire Surya Kumar Yadav walked off sheepishly on a bouncer. Sure Hardik Pandya did his best and provided the much-needed stability to the wicket.

But team India looked in a dire need of a left-hander to balance it out. This was made quite apparent with their attempt to send all-rounder Axar Patel ahead of Hardik Pandya. And thus, the chatter of playing Dinesh Karthik over Rishabh Pant has picked the pace again on the internet.

Dinesh Karthik or Rishabh Pant: The Question Still Stands

The social media and the fraternity stands divided on the stance of who among the wicket-keeper batter should India play in the marquee event. While many side with Karthik for his truly notable finishing skills, others believe Rishabh Pant to be the balancing aspect of the team. While Rohit Sharma and the management picked Dinesh Karthik in the opening match. Karthik walked off haphazardly by getting out on a stumping in a crucial situation. And now, there’s a debate going on over if Rishabh Pant should play the next match and on.

Earlier, former Indian cricketer, Gautam Gambhir had iterated the same calling for Rishabh Pant to be India’s primary choice. “In my playing XI, Rishabh Pant should play at No.5, Hardik Pandya at no.6, and Axar Patel at no.7. But what we have seen in the practice matches, Dinesh Karthik will play. But a player is not picked to play just 10 balls. You should pick a player so that he can bat at No.5 or 6. But Dinesh Karthik has not shown that intention,” he said.

And now there’s an argument going on validating why Rishabh Pant over Dinesh Karthik and vice versa. Have a look at the top comments on the matter.
