Delhi Capitals are coming to IPL 2024 to rectify all that went wrong in the previous edition. The rectification required more than reflecting on how skipper Rishabh Pant acted out on the field. The squad that qualified for the playoffs in the previous three seasons was kicked out by the underperforming Mumbai Indians in 2022. However, with the retention list out, seems like Delhi Capitals have instilled their hopes in the core. And rightly so because one season can’t justify the strength that Capitals hold with the likes of David Warner, Prithvi Shaw, and Mitchell Marsh on the team.
There are no major shuffles in the squad apart from Shardul Thakur moving to KKR. The team engaged in a trade deal with the Kolkata-based franchise to let go of Thakur. Trading in Aman Khan, the squad has increased its purse value for the mini-auction. Looking at the team as it appears now, the Capitals will need to add bowling brilliance to the squad. The batting looks all sorted with Rishabh Pant, Shaw, Warner, and Sarfaraz Khan.
Moreover, the side has also let go of KS Bharat. But then it’s not shocking seeing how the wicket-keeper batter spent most of his 2022 season on the Capitals’ bench. Delhi Capitals will now look forward to filling the remaining 5 slots in the mini-auction with 19.45 crores of purse strength.
