IPL 2022 mega auction: Shortlisted list of players released; Australia ranks 2nd. The list of all the shortlisted players for the mega auction has been released. As many as 590 players will go under the hammer on the 12th and 13th of February in Bangalore. Out of the 590 players, 228 are capped, 355 are uncapped and 7 are from associate nations.

This list tells the number of players going in the auction pool from different countries. Australia ranks 2nd with 47 players (India does not feature because maximum players will be Indian).

This will be the 15th edition of IPL and 2 new teams are added, Lucknow and Ahmedabad. This might be the last mega auction in IPL but there’s still no clarity on this.

The likes of Ashwin, Boult, Cummins, De Kock, Dhawan, Faf, Shreyas Iyer, Rabada, Warner are placed in the first slot.

Wicket keepers are placed in the 4th slot with names like Ishan Kishan, Bairstow, Billings, Karthik, Pooran, Rayudu, Saha, Wade etc.

The first set of all-rounders will come at 3rd slot with Shakib, Bravo, Hasaranga, Holder, Mitch Marsh, Nabi, Krunal, Harshal, Nitish Rana and Sundar.

The 2nd slot will be of the first set of batters with Hetmyer, Miller, Padikkal, Manish Pandey, Raina, Jason Roy, Steve Smith, Uthappa.

SOME EXCITING INCLUSIONS

S. Sreesanth will also be a part of the auction after the first time since his ban was lifted. Cheteshwar Pujara has also put his name in the auction pool. Both of them will have a base price of 50 lakhs. Dewald Brevis, often dubbed as “Baby ABD” has also put his name in the auction with a base price of 20 lakhs. Jofra Archer has also decided to put his name in the auction pool but it is unlikely that he’ll play this season due to his injury. But, the ECB has confirmed that he’ll surely play in the 2024 and 2024 seasons.

Chris Gayle has decided not to put his name in the auction pool. This is huge because for many years he has been one of the faces of IPL.

IPL auction, shortlist players

This IPL mega auction is special in 2 ways – a) 2 new teams are added, Lucknow and Ahmedabad. A total of 10 teams will be part of the IPL from now on. b) This might be the last mega auction in IPL. This is still not clear but it is highly possible.
