RCB vs KKR(Match 31)- Man of the Match Award winner
What a start for Kolkata Knight Riders, as they registered their 3rd win in the second part of the IPL. The 31st match took place at the Sheikh Zayed stadium between RCB and KKR. While KKR gets a glimmer, for RCB today’s match was a bummer. KKR restricted RCB for a mere 92 runs and won the match by chasing the target in just 10 overs. RCB vs KKR IPL 2021- Man of the Match award: Kudos to the KKR bowler, who took 3 wickets and also got the Man of the Match award for his excellent performance. This is the sixth-lowest total for RCB and third against KKR.
Starting with the match, RCB won the toss and chose to bat. Unfortunately, their decision didn’t turn out as per their expectations. With the two great openers gone in the powerplay, the team was at 41 losing 2 wickets. Furthermore, KKR bowlers dismissed AB De Villiers in the 9th and Maxwell in the 12th over. As a result, the team lost the momentum and was all out in the 19th over for only 92 runs. The key players Virat, Padikkal, Maxwell, and De Villiers scored just 5, 22, 10, and 0 runs respectively.
On the other hand, KKR started to chase strongly as both the openers performed well. Shubman Gill smashed 48 off 34 while Venkatesh Iyer smashed 41 off 27. Their power-packed performances helped KKR to seal the win in just 10 overs, losing 1 wicket. However, the major credit goes to the bowlers who gave RCB a hard time and restricted them to 92 runs.
Man of the Match
Varun Chakravarthy delivered an economical spell of 4 overs conceding only 13 runs and took 3 wickets. He dismissed Maxwell, Sachin Baby, and W Hasaranga. He also dismissed Kyle Jamieson in a run-out. Hence he became the perfect player for the Man of the Match award. He also has his best figures on the same ground in 2020 against Delhi Capitals.
