Battle for the 4th spot continues!! The 54th match of IPL 2021, scheduled at Sharjah Cricket Stadium was between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals. Poor performance by RR as they failed to perform with both bat and ball. KKR batters did some terrific stuff and gave RR a good total to chase. KKR managed to put 171 runs on the board. RR tumbled to 85 all out and KKR won the match by 86 runs. KKR vs RR Man of the Match: Credits to the bowler who registered his best figures till date and won the MOM award. 

To start with the match, RR won the toss and chose to bowl first. However things didn’t turn in their favour as KKR batters outshone them. KKR set up an impressive partnership for 79 runs in 10 overs. While Venkatesh Iyer scored 38 off 35, Shubman Gill smashed a gutsy knock of 56 off 44. Although the openers got dismissed, the middle order led the team to a quite decent total. RR bowlers failed to dominate the batters. As a result KKR managed to put up 171 runs on the board.

In the second innings, RR didn’t get a good start. RR’s performance was a disgrace today, giving huge disappointment to the fans. The batting order collapsed and the team tumbled to 35 for 7 till the 9th over. The opener Yashasvi Jaiswal got out for a duck, while Sanju Samson for a single. The middle order was also a bummer for the team. Terrific bowling stuff by KKR bowlers as they clinched wickets so early. Although Rahul Tewatia gave his best shot and scored 44 off 36, he alone couldn’t lead the team to the victory. Splendid bowling from Shivam Mavi, Lockie Ferguson and Varun Chakravarthy. As a result KKR won the match by 86 runs. 

Man of the Match in KKR vs RR match

The KKR bowler Shivam Mavi won the Man of the Match award for impressive bowling. He bowled 3.1 overs and clinched 4 wickets conceding just 21 runs. With an economy rate of 6.6, he dismissed Sanju Samson, Glenn Phillips and Rahul Tewatia. After today’s win, KKR have increased their chances of getting the 4th spot by a huge percentage.
