Kolkata: The humid Eden Gardens stood jaw-dropped as Englishman Harry Brooks announced himself with an explosive century. The Keighley-born 24-year-old picked up the first century of the season in just 55 balls.
Harry Brooks started off explosively making three boundaries in the first over itself. He thrashed Umesh Yadav repeatedly as he raced to 31 off 15 balls. Brooks stood his ground as Russel took his two scalps and played it safe for a small time. He reached a comfortable fifty in 32 balls, just after the halfway mark. Post Markram’s departure, Brooks went ballistic as he banged Lockie left and right. He entered a carnal stage as he made another 50 runs in just 23 balls.

Thanks to Brooks’ century, and captain Markram’s 25-ball fifty, SRH has also put in the highest score of the season. The Knight Riders require 229 runs to continue their winning streak.
Ahead of the season, Brooks was heavily considered one of the key players of the IPL16. He came into the season with a whopping 13.25 crore rupees, giving a good deal of expectations. However, opinions took a table turn when he failed to perform in the first few games. The right-hand batter had a rocky beginning to the IPL. He struggled to put up runs, scoring 13(14) vs Punjab Kings, 3(4) vs Lucknow, and 13(21) vs Rajasthan. However, today was a redemption. Brooks announced himself and he is worth the benjamins.
Brook became the fifth English player to score a ton in Indian Premier League. Kevin Pietersen was the first Englishman to do so. Ben Stokes, Jonny Bairstow, and Jos Butler followed KP. Stokes (2) and Butler (5) have multiple centuries. Furthermore, Brooks is the second Englishman to score a century for SRH and third overall. In addition, to Bairstow and Brooks, Warner has also scored two tons for SRH.
